During City Council's regular June 18 meeting, Recology South Valley, Gilroy's exclusive trash-collecting company, will ask permission to send 168 delinquent Gilroy homeowner accounts to the County Auditor to place liens on their properties.

A telephone survey of 501 likely November 2012 Gilroy voters shows those who were polled would “strongly support a city sales tax for local schools,” according to San Francisco-based consulting firm TBWB Strategies.

Gilroy Librarian Elizabeth Munoz power-walked to a group of loud teens who crowded a walkway on the second floor of the library and asked them calmly to quiet down on a recent weekday afternoon. She rushed back to her desk, where a line of patrons had amassed in the few seconds since she stepped away.

As the city gets closer to building a permanent, public trail to the top of Morgan Hill’s landmark El Toro Mountain, residents at the base of the hill are worried the project will destroy the ambiance of a quiet neighborhood where children play in the street and deer get lost in backyards.

“Red Phone, back on May 4, you reported that Five Guys Burgers and Fries signed a 10-year lease to open in the former D’Vine Jazz and Wine location in the Madrone Village Shopping Center. But, the other day on my way to Red Robin for a burger – yes I love burgers – I stopped by to check on the progress. Much to my chagrin, there’s a sign out front that says “Space Available.” Did the deal fall through? Are they still planning to open up here? Please shed some light as I can’t wait for it to open?”
