Police briefs: 6-year-old suspect in skateboard theft
During the past week, police responded to reports of auto theft, robbery, burglary, someone using counterfeit money and a 13-year-old bringing booze to school. Here are a few incidents:
Gilroy Farmers’ Market opens for the season
After an off-season spent planning, regrouping and reflecting on the experiences gained in the inaugural year, volunteers kicked off the first Gilroy Farmers’ Market of 2012 on Sunday on the corner of Seventh and Monterey streets in downtown Gilroy.

Cristina Hernandez was born in Ysleta, TX on Oct. 25, 1919. The family moved to California in 1937 and to Gilroy in 1941.

Albert Di Marino, age 60 passed away with his brothers by his side on Saturday, May 12, 2012, after a prolonged illness. Born on December 25, 1951 he was the eldest son of the late Albert and Josephine Di Marino.
