Retired Gilroy Fire Division Chief Mary Gutierrez has been hired as Seaside’s fire chief, the city announced Dec. 14.

Steven J. Vasquez
Steven J. Vasquez, loved dearly by his family and friends, passed away tragically on March 12 at the age of 45. Steven was born on December 7, 1963 to Lawrence and Mollie Vasquez. His father Lawrence Vasquez precedes him in death in 2003. He leaves behind his loving wife and soul mate Pierrette Vasquez. Steven will be missed by his mother Mollie Vasquez and his brothers and sisters, who include Mollie Gauthier, Richard Vasquez, Nancy Bernal, Irene Minderler, David Vasquez, Lillian Ouellette, and Barbara Villanueva. Uncle Stevie will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
GPS Flea Market and Carnival
The big scissors and red ribbon were brought to the Gilroy Prep School Flea Market and Carnival event on April 28. Surrounded by students, Principal James Dent cuts the ribbon.
