Council roundup: Development costs could rise, park purchase approved

The costs for certain developments within Gilroy could increase, if City Council approves an ordinance currently being prepared by City staff.

The Community Law Enforcement Foundation of Morgan Hill (CLEF) selected Deputy District Attorney Stuart Scott of Morgan Hill as the 2014 Public Safety Award recipient, recognizing him for his work in prosecuting some of the South County's most violent crimes including homicides, gang crimes, auto theft and the sexual assault of children and adults.

Ring around the roundabouts

The Garlic Capital could see its first of up to 11 new roundabouts constructed as soon as next winter for some, according to City Transportation Engineer Henry Servin.

Police blotter: participation in a criminal street gang

The Gilroy Police Department responded to a variety of crimes last week, including participation in a criminal street gang, infliction of bodily injury on a spouse or cohabitant and robbery. The arrests were recorded in the GPD blotter between Jan. 22 through 29.

Nurse: ‘Miracle’ saved girl

Morgan Hill resident Scott Green, 57, said God saved the life of Olivia Zelony, 15, moments after she was ejected from a go-kart that crashed into a parked vehicle in their east Morgan Hill neighborhood on Thanksgiving day.

‘Legal concerns’ or lawsuit threat?

Igniting yet another controversy in the bitter battle over Navigator Schools’ attempt to open a new charter school in Morgan Hill, County Board of Education Trustee Joseph DiSalvo acknowledged that Morgan Hill Unified School District’s threat of a lawsuit “influenced” his vote.
