Student Spotlight: Kyle Kwong, Christopher High

What inspires you? Professional musicians inspire me, especially those, like classical pianists, that don't generally fall into the "mainstream" categories. Why? Because despite the general belief that it is difficult to make money as a musician unless they have connections, they still do what they love because they love it. Money isn't their prime motivator. Their passion for music is, and I think that's extremely brave and courageous of them.

Fa-la-la-la-la…it’s fall concert time!

Soak in the sounds of music as 210 singers from Gilroy and Christopher High schools perform a fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 16 and 17 at St. Mary Church on the corner of First and Monterey streets. 

State unveils 2012 API scores

The California Department of Education released Thursday its 2011-12 Accountability Progress Reporting, showing mostly minor fluctuations in the projected Academic Performing Index scores calculated ahead of time by the Gilroy Unified School District.

Fundraising auction for Anchorpoint School

Anchorpoint Christians Schools of Gilroy will host its first annual fundraising auction at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center, located at 17000 Monterey Street in Morgan Hill. 

Fall play at Rucker Elementary

Rucker Elementary School will host its fall play Oct. 18 in the multipurpose room on campus, located at 325 Santa Clara Avenue in Gilroy.

Pacific West Christian Academy accredited for K-8

Pacific West Christian Academy, which has three campuses in Gilroy, has been accredited for its kindergarten through eighth-grade programs. This is the first accreditation that the Western Association of Schools and Colleges accrediting body has awarded to PWCA.
