A banner of hope-filled wishes

Ascencion Solorsano Middle School students made a special banner last week for the Newtown, Conn. community and schools to offer their support and condolences following the recent tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The banner was signed and decorated by ASMS staff and students and will be sent to Newtown during the winter break.

ASMS Teachers Tobi Brown and Jessica Bungcayao encouraged and supervised this effort to give back to the Newtown community, help them heal and to provide the opportunity for ASMS students and staff to express their sympathy and good wishes.

“The 81 students spearheaded this project themselves,” Brown said. “We want to let (Newtown) know that we are their friends – all the way over here on the other side of the United States.”
