The Gilroy Prep School is hosting two fun events this Saturday to help raise money for the school.

The Gavilan College School Board had some big shoes to fill following the recent death of late trustee Mike Davenport, whose March 2 passing left a vacancy on the college’s seven-person school board.

Gilroy Unified School Board trustees didn’t come up with the “magic answer” regarding missed instructional days due to field trips, extracurricular competitions and athletic activities, but they’re taking a balanced approached to the challenge of curtailing lost school time while ensuring their students receive a well-rounded education.

Attention students, parents and alumni: Saint Mary School is celebrating 140 years of Catholic education, and they’re doing it with style the week of April 26 through May 9.

Drama instructor Kate Booth took 12 Christopher High School students in October to the world-renowned Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Ore.

McDonald’s restaurant in Gilroy donated $800 to Brownell Middle School as part of their McTeacher’s Night fundraiser that the First Street restaurant hosted in late-March.
