High school artists gallery

GILROY – Students from Anzar, Gilroy and San Benito high schools are exhibiting their work, featuring a wide range of media, in the show “The Evolving I: Reflections of the Self by Local High School Artists” now through April 2 at the Gavilan College Library, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and closed on weekends. Admission is free. An artists reception will also be held on Thursday, April 1 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Gavilan College Art Gallery. Admission is free.

Dine for St. Patrick’s

GILROY – St. Joseph’s Family Center will host a St. Patrick’s dinner on Saturday, March 13, at the St. Mary Auditorium, 11 First St. Enjoy an evening of fun, frolic and festivities. The event starts at 6 p.m. A donation of $25 per person will go to benefit families in need and the homeless in the community. See young artists

GILROY – City of Gilroy Community Services Department presents the 2004 Young Artists Show, an exhibition of local talent, from March 13 through 19, at Willey Cultural Center, 140 Fifth St. Event features the work of young artists from 5 to 18 years of age. Garlicky group

Canine hike along Coyote

GILROY – Join Santa Clara County Park Ranger Southworth for a three-hour hike through the hills and valleys above Coyote Lake on Sunday, March 14, at the Coyote Lake Visitor Center, 10840 Coyote Lake Road, at 10 a.m. Exercise your pooch and yourself, learn proper dog hike etiquette and have lunch overlooking the spectacular south Santa Clara Valley. Be a Junior Ranger

GILROY – Coyote Lake County Park is having a free Junior Ranger program for kids 9 to 12 years old. Learn about the roles of a Park Ranger, plants and animals in the park, and the Ohlone people who once lived here. Junior Rangers meet six times from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, March 17, 24 and 31, and April 7, 21 and 28. Details and registration: 846-5632.
