DEAR EDITOR:
There is no reason whatsoever that Indian Motorcycle should “go out of business.” The product is as good and attractive as any other on the market, and the market is growing. The company that was running IMC might not have known what to do with it, and/or may not have had the financial resources or commitment to follow through, but the potential of the mark is enormous.
With the right management Indian can eventually rival Harley in market share and prestige. Unfortunately, raising money in this country puts all entrepreneurs at the mercy of “the market” and the individuals and companies who make money from playing the market, rather than MAKING something. But I have never heard anyone in the industry say anything but good things about Rey Sotelo, so I was surprised to hear what his ex-partner had to say about him. If Rey and his group are running the company that makes the bikes I sell, that would suit me just fine.
