Kevin Gitmed singled and scored on a two-out error in the top of the seventh inning to pull the Soup past Victory Outreach 9-8 in the triplebill nightcap at Christmas Hill Park. Kurt Gitmed powered a single, double and triple as No Soup 4 You moved to 2-0 atop the six-team league. Rudy Maquinalez and Fausto Padilla each drilled three hits for the winners. Joel Vaca homered in a three-hit night for Victory Outreach.
Two teams that suffered double-digit losses in the opening night of play bounced back with wins Monday.
The Bomb Squad used three hits each from Mark Ferguson, Shawn Cronk and John Shipinski to outlast St. Mary Men’s Club 12-3. Bruce Nicholson collected three hits for St. Mary.
J.R. Brewski’s is 1-1 after a 19-1 decision over Dan Keith Septics. Mike Keith went 4-for-4, Dave Slater 3-for-3 for the Brew Crew. Tom Luthur lined a run-scoring single for the Septics.
Nicki Dequin hit for the cycle to help 2-0 Marks Tractor Service by M. Rizzo Landscaping 13-11 Monday in Women’s Winter League play at Las Animas Park.
Pauline Lemberger managed three hits and Barb Lemberger and Lisa Low each scored three runs for Marks Tractor. Lucy Solorzano went 3-for-4 and LeeAnn Blean and Melanie Fajardo each scored three runs for M. Rizzo.
Goldsmith Seeds rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to clip M&M’s 10-9.
Michelle Barry tied the score at 9-9 with a sacrifice fly. Missy Howe scored on an infield error to give Goldsmtih a 2-0 record. Paula Stewart went 3-for-3 with a sacrifice fly for the winners. Karen Turnlund and Shelly Guerrero each stroked three hits for M&Ms.
Sarah Rosso singled and scored on a Maribel Vargas hit in the bottom of the final inning to give Chilicas an 18-17 nod over Michael’s Mufflers. Bernadette Medellin went 5-for-5, Dena Elam 4-for-4 for Chilicas. Joanna Hernandez went 2-for-3 and scored three Muffler runs.
Christina Salvin and Sheri Steinbeck each went 3-for-3 to propel Dutchman’s Pizza past Don’s Vending 15-4.Corrina Casillas powered a triple and two singles for Don’s Vending.
