GHS freshman football practice
To all Gilroy High incoming freshmen interested in playing football for the Mustangs, the first practice is at 8am on Monday, Aug. 15. To participate, all athletes must pick up an athletic packet at GHS ASAP.

National Gymnastics Day
All are welcome to the Morgan Hill Gymnastics Club today to celebrate National Gymnastics Day. The event, hosted by the MH Gymnastics Parent Club, will take place from 12-1:30pm in conjunction with the club’s annual Tumble-A-Thon and Open House at the MH Gymnastics Club, 140 Mast Ave., Suite B in Morgan Hill.

Five-on-five hoops tourney
Erik and Gabe’s first annual Gilroy Five-on-Five Basketball Tournament will happen on Aug. 20-21 at Gilroy High’s Gym Complex, starting from 10am on both days. Registrations will be accepted up until Aug. 15. Teams can consist of up to eight players. The fee per team is $100 regardless of team size.
Former GHS basketball standouts Erik Nelson and Gabriel Gonzales now play for Bethany University in Scotts Valley. The tournament will feature testimony from a Christian perspective. There will also be a 3-point contest, a dunk contest, raffles and other activities.

ESPN Deportes event
ESPN Deportes’ “Futbol a Football” promotion is taking place in San Jose at the Earthquakes-Columbus Crew game at Spartan Stadium on Aug. 6. This promotion will give consumers who have a passion for futbol (soccer) and football an opportunity to win $10 million dollars.
