–In the Red’s opening tournament game, midfielder Erin Chan dominated the whole field – pressing hard on the attack and playing a huge part in keeping the ball in the Golden Eagles’ half. Jennifer Rose, under heavy pressure from three Eagles, crossed to Christine Camacho, who found the back of the net. Midfielder Kaitlin Muraoka intercepted the ball, passed to teammate Audra Robinson, who centered to Jennifer Rose for the goal.

Rambunctious Red 0, Strikers 4

–In the Red’s second tourney game, first-half goalie Audra Robinson made four saves covering herself with mud and glory. Second-half goalie Carissa Pierotti was solid as well. On one particularly spectacular save Pierotti dashed out of net and swatted the ball away from two Strikers who were open in front of the goal.

U10 Girls

Dr. Smith’s Red Demons 1, Purple Lightenings 2

–Dr. Smith’s Red Demons finished the season with a third-place finish in the Orchard Valley Tournament. Goalies Alli Unger, Monique Kerstens, Giordan Rojas and Francesca Comin only had three goals scored against them during the four games. Briana Velasquez scored the only goal for the Demons during the first half of their opening game. Jennifer Velasquez had several good attempts on the goal, while Ashley McDermott and Alex Rangel played great defense. Francesca Comin played great in the sweeper position with several strong kicks up field.

Red Demons 4, Green Snakes 0

–Alli Unger and Lauren Block both scored goals on individual breakaways during the first half. Giordan Rojas had a breakaway in the second half to score and Ashley McDermott scored after several well-positioned passes from teammates to help the Demons to victory over the Green Snakes.

Red Demons 0, Yellow Jackets 1

–Jennifer Velasquez and Francesca Comin continued to be key in stopping the attack on the Demon’s goal. Forwards Alli Unger, Lauren Block and Briana Velasquez played tough and were continually attacking for the Demons. Kate Wheat and Alex Rangel played great games on both sides.

Red Demons 2, Purple Lightenings 0

–Monique Kerstens scored the first goal after Kate Wheat broke away and brought the ball down the field. Kerstens scored again in the second half to help the Demon’s to a win over the Purple Lightening putting them in third place.

U8 Boys

The Storm 4, Morgan Hill Patriots 3

–The Storm opened up the game with a quick score from Josue Slagado and then Zack Loo added another goal before halftime to give the Storm a 2-0 lead. Salgado scored his second goal opening up the second half to extend the lead to three before the Patriots rallied for two goals. Salgado made it a hat trick with his third goal and the Patriots tacked on another goal late to stay within one. Wally Meier and Tanner Smith (one assist) both played a great game for the Storm. Josh Wheat shut out the Patriots in net in the first half and was outstanding on both sides of the field in the second half helping the Storm secure the victory.

U8 Girls

White Lightning 4, Purple Dolphins 1

–In their opening game of the jamboree, Lightning was leading at the half with goals by Cristyn Simpson and Emma Leach versus the Dolphin’s single score. Lightning’s Emily Barham secured the victory with two goals in the second half.

White Lightning 2, Blue Angels 1

–A hard-fought battle left the scorecard empty for the first half of play. Early in the second half, Lightning’s Emma Leach found the back of the net. The Blue Angels rallied back and scored a goal of their own. Beautiful teamwork delivered a second goal by Leach later in the half to clinch the victory. Great defensive play was delivered by Lightning’s Kiara Santamaria, Rachel Thompson and Cristyn Simpson, as well as key saves by goalie Emily Barham.

White Lightning 1, Roadrunners 1

–The season finale was a thrilling contest for first place in the jamboree between these top-ranked teams. Strong defensive tactics on either side kept the game scoreless in the first half. Late in the second half, a goal was made by Roadrunners’ Katelyn Florek. In the last 10 seconds, it was matched by a goal from Lightning’s Emily Barham, resulting in a well-deserved tie.
