Retail outlet stores in East Gilroy and areas south of there were experienced a power outage Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, a PG&E official said.

Fiona Chan said more than 2,300 PG&E customers lost electricity around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday when workers discovered a downed power line on Holsclaw Road between Dunlap Avenue and Gillman Road.

The cause is being investigated, Chan said.

Crews worked “as quickly as possible,” Chan said, and power was restored to roughly 1,500 customers by 8:30 p.m.

By 3 a.m. Wednesday, power was restored to about 800 more customers. The remaining 50-or-so customers regained power by 7 a.m., Chan said.

A representative from the Gilroy Premium Outlets said power has been restored Wednesday for all outlet stores.
