Representatives from St. Louise Regional Hospital visited the Gilroy Police Department on Oct. 27 for National First Responders Day. The visit was one of 15 stops to police, fire and EMS facilities in South County, where hospital staff distributed gift baskets as a gesture of thanks to first responders. Congress designated Oct. 28 as National First Responders Day in 2017. Serving as a national day of gratitude, National First Responders Day pays tribute to their services to their communities and honors fallen first responders. Oct. 27 marked the eighth year hospital staff have recognized first responders in South County.
