A tree crashed down onto Princevalle Street on March 14 in front of Gilroy High School due to strong winds. The tree was one of the first planted on the campus shortly after the school opened there in 1978, according to Rita Quintero, who worked at Gilroy High School for 28 years. Prior to the latest storm system that brought in heavy gusts of wind on March 21, City Administrator Jimmy Forbis said Public Works crews cleared about 50 fallen trees throughout the week in Gilroy.
