Hill hurls six-hitter after giving up four singles in first
frame
GILROY – Will Hill tossed a six-hitter Monday as the unbeaten Playaz stopped the Las Animas Sweepers 9-2 in a Men’s CC League showdown at Gavilan Sports Park.

The Sweepers, 2-1 in the first half of league play, collected four singles in the top of the first inning to fashion a 2-0 lead. Hill settled down for the final six innings, allowing just two additional singles while not allowing a runner to reach third base.

Bobby Galvan and Daniel DeLeon each went 2-for-3 and scored two Playaz runs. Mike Sandoval, whose sacrifice fly in the first inning gave the Playaz (3-0) a 3-2 edge, added two singles and a second RBI.

Emiliano Arde highlighted the Las Animas Sweepers offense with two hits.

South County Rockery and Building Materials is third at 1-1-1 with a 23-12 decision over In The Zone.

Mark DiGiovanna, Dave Meacham and Victor Murray each scored four Rockery runs. Mark Rodriguez and Brian Kozlowski hit Rockery homers. Junior Campos went 3-for-3 and scored three In The Zone runs.

Jose Mendoza doubled and tripled as Malibu Heating and Air Conditioning powered past No Soup 4 You 11-6. Rick Hattaway’s single helped Malibu Heating to two runs in the fifth to snap a 6-6 tie.

The Dirty Dozen maintained a one-game lead over two clubs in the Men’s CCC League pennant chase Monday at Christmas Hill Park with a 22-3 nod over Victory Outreach.

Ricky Salinas and Steve Arriaga each homered and tripled for Dirty Dozen. Benny Naranjo went 3-for-3 and scored four Dirty runs. Louie Martinez and Jesse Jimenez each collected two hits for Victory Outreach.

Countryside Daycare battled back from a 4-0 deficit after three innings to upset Extreme Air Poor Boys 7-4.

Art Del Valle and Matt Piedmont each tripled and scored in the Extreme first frame. Abie Espinosa and Brandon Orlando’s RBI-hits made it 4-0 in the third.

Countryside (2-1) scored once in the fourth, then rallied to tie the score in the fifth behind a lead-off triple from Jesse Nunez. Kris Ferguson began a three-run Countryside sixth with a home run.

Phil Clark homered in a 4-for-4 night as the 2-1 Desperados stopped Morgan Hill Bible Church 21-6. Gerald Buckman went 4-for-4, drove in four runs and scored four Desperados runs. Dave Bruni went 3-for-3 and scored three runs. Mike Peternel went 2-for-3 and scored two Morgan Hill Bible Church runs. Stuart Kirchick went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
