The Gilroy High boys and girls soccer teams have waited patiently to find out who each would face in the quarterfinals of the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs.
Now the Mustangs know, and Saturday is going to be jam-packed with GHS soccer.
The fourth-seeded boys squad hosts No. 12 Evergreen Valley at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Evergreen Valley got past No. 5-seed Watsonville 1-1 (5-4) in a game that was decided by penalty kicks.
In other first-round Division I action, defending section champ No. 10 Alisal needed penalty kicks to advance past No. 7 Leland 0-0 (3-2), No. 6 Palo Alto defeated No. 11 Milpitas 2-0 and No. 8 Serra handled No. 9 woodside by the same score.
On the girls’ side, the second-seeded Mustangs face No. 7 Woodside who beat No. 10 Leland 2-0 on Wednesday.
Also moving through are No. 6 Santa Teresa, who knocked off No. 12 San Benito in overtime, No. 6 Monta Vista and No. 8 Gunn.
