Gilroy – Team registration will continue next week for the inaugural Garlic No-Limit Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament set for July 16-17 at the Gilroy Senior Center.

Teams will be allowed to sign up for the event at the Gilroy Community Services Department office, 7351 Rosanna St., through Friday, July 8, unless the 27-team maximum is filled earlier.

Teams with four players at least 18 years of age who sign up may be playing no-limit that morning against players from the 4 Jokers, Great Danes, Wednesday Poker Ladies, the Crew or others in the field.

The fundraiser for youth, teen and seniors programs will allow persons with sight or hearing disabilities to play, as well as those in wheelchairs.

While all team members will open play at 10am on Saturday, July 16, team members will play at different tables.

Awards will go the Garlic Hold ‘Em Championship Team, top male finisher and top female finisher. The current field for the tournament is 45 per cent female. T-shirts will be given to the top five team members.

Assistance from 12 table sponsors allowed the event to present a $60 per team entry fee. Craig Avila Bail Bonds, LTD SUV Limousines, Century 21 Premier, Dutchman’s Pizza, Elam Trucking, Fritter-Schulz Physical Therapy, Garlic Country Golf, Guy’s Heating and Air Conditioning, Happy Dog Pizza Company, the Law Office of Valencia and Ippolito, Mendego and National Trophy backed the tournament.

Company teams, neighbors, classmates or team members from other sports are asked to complete the roster form by the Friday afternoon deadline.
