The Gilroy Police Department made arrests for a variety of crimes over the past week, including battery on a police officer, assault with a deadly weapon, rape, stalking and possession of a controlled substance for sale. Arrests were recorded in the GPD blotter between Dec. 12 through 28. All suspects remain innocent until proven guilty, and an appearance in the arrest log does not signify guilt for the listed crime/s.
Assault with a deadly weapon
-Samantha Chavez, 19, Dec. 26 at 3:26 p.m. near the intersection of Church and Third streets for one felony charge and felony stalking with intent to instill fear of death.
Attempted burglary
-Elizabeth Chavez, 24, Dec. 26 at 3:26 p.m. near the intersection of Sixth and Hanna streets for felony attempted second-degree burglary, felony possession of a controlled substance and two charges of use or being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Battery on a police officer, emergency personnel
-Rogelio Lustre, 33, Dec. 20 at 8:25 p.m. near the intersection of First Street and Wren Avenue for one misdemeanor charge, being under the influence of alcohol, drugs or a controlled substance and resisting, delaying or obstructing a police officer.
Carrying a concealed weapon
-Alex Aguirre, 28, Dec. 24 at 2:29 p.m. for six firearms-related felonies including possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a short-barreled rifle, carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a firearm on person or in a vehicle, possession of a firearm with markings removed and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person. Aguirre was also charged with felony re-arrest for probation revocation.
Domestic violence
-Catherine Silva Ames, 38, Dec. 20 at 11:17 p.m. on the 1100 block of Lerma Lane for one felony charge of inflicting bodily injury on a spouse or cohabitant.
-Roger Flores, 37, Dec. 21 at 1:54 p.m. on the 6900 block of Chestnut Street for battery on a former spouse, fiancé or friend and re-arrest for probation revocation.
Driving under the influence
-Hector DeLeon, 41, Dec. 27 at 9:43 p.m. near the intersection of Monterey and Lewis Street for DUI, driving with privileges suspended or revoked and contempt of court.
Driving violations
-Betty Lara, 37, Dec. 23 at 4:10 p.m. at the Gilroy Police Department for driving with a suspended license.
-Donald Baker, 33, Dec. 26 at 5:05 p.m. at the Gilroy Police Department for driving with privileges suspended or revoked, expired registration and driving with a suspended license.
Fighting in public
-Rafael Marquez, 35, Dec. 21 at 10:20 a.m. near the intersection of Church Street and Welburn Avenue for one misdemeanor charge and use or being under the influence of a controlled substance.

-Highland Vu, 43, Dec. 27 at 12:34 a.m. near the intersection of Farrell and Monterey streets for resisting, delaying or obstructing police, trespassing and being under the influence of alcohol, drugs or a controlled substance.
-Brandon Aguirre, 29, Dec. 27 at 3:44 p.m. on the 400 block of Gavilan Court for felony theft or unauthorized use of a vehicle, vandalism with damages less than $400, possession of burglary tools and possession of a controlled substance.
-Eli Ledesma, 33, Dec. 27 at 8:36 p.m. near the intersection of Fourth and Monterey streets for violation of a protective order and vandalism with damages less than $400.

-Gerald Reynolds, 36, Dec. 24 at 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Pacheco Pass and Camino Arroyo.

-Tracy Harbutte, 27, Dec. 21 at 4:17 a.m. near the intersection of Sixth and Monterey Streets for two charges, one felony and one misdemeanor, and use or being under the influence of a controlled substance.
-Michael Estrada, 36, Dec. 22 at 12:49 a.m. near the intersection of Wren Avenue and Mantelli Drive for one misdemeanor charge and unlawful possession of paraphernalia.
-Antonio Zambrano, 27, Dec. 22 at 2:15 a.m. on the 7500 block of Monterey Street for one misdemeanor charge, unlawful possession of paraphernalia and trespassing.

-Kimico Baxter, 34, Dec. 27 at 1:59 a.m. near the intersection of Monterey and First streets for one felony charge and resisting, delaying or obstructing police.
