A 38-year-old man was arrested Saturday morning after he punched and stabbed his ex-girlfriend when he learned she had been living with a new boyfriend, according to the Gilroy Police Department.
Marcos Organista was arrested around 9:40 a.m. Saturday following a reported domestic violence incident at a Forest Street home, according to police.
When Organista learned his of his ex-girlfriend’s new relationship, the situation “quickly escalated,” with Organista breaking furniture before punching and stabbing the woman, according to a GPD press report.
Organista fled but was later arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose on suspicion of domestic violence and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.
The woman was hospitalized with a non-life threatening stab wound to her body, GPD Sgt. Chad Gallacinao said.
Suspects make off with $2,000 worth of purses
Three suspects are sought after walking into a Gilroy outlet store and stealing 12 purses valued at $2,000, according to the Gilroy Police Department.
According to the GPD’s weekly press report, three Hispanic male adults allegedly swiped the purses around 1:37 p.m. Friday from the DKNY outlet store at the Gilroy Premium Outlets on Arroyo Circle.
Almost $1,000 in video game accessories swiped
A burglary suspect might have made his or her way through an open bedroom window en route to swiping almost $1,000 worth of video game accessories from a Forest Street residence Friday morning, according to the Gilroy Police Department.
A PlayStation 3 console – valued at $500 – and roughly $500 more in games, controllers and cables were reported stolen in what the GPD referred to as a possible “selective search” robbery in a weekly press report.
DUI/license check point planned
The Gilroy Police Department will administer a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint from 8 p.m. Aug. 13 to 2:30 a.m. Aug. 14 within city limits of Gilroy. The GPD said the purpose of the checkpoint will be to increase community education and raise awareness of the negative effects of drunk driving, to arrest drunk drivers, to review drivers licenses’ of those who pass through the checkpoint, to ensure they are knowledgeable about the “rules of the road” and have shown such ability to DMV and to ensure their driver’s license has not been suspended or revoked by DMV or the court.
