This week, police responded to several incidents of burglaries, shoplifting, assaults and a call that a couple males might be in possession of a flamethrower. Here are the noteworthy incidents:
Woman arrested for shoplifting and six warrants
At 4:35 p.m. on July 23, Christina Ercoli, 22 of Modesto, was arrested after she allegedly attempted to steal clothes and hygiene products from Wal Mart on Camino Arroyo. Police said she provided false identification and was also found in possession of pills without a prescription. She was arrested and taken to Santa Clara County Jail on the counts of these charges as well as six outstanding warrants, said Gilroy Police Sgt. Chad Gallacinao.
Car burglarized, passport stolen
An unknown suspect smashed the rear window of a locked white Jeep at 7 p.m. on July 23 on Arroyo Circle and stole thousands of dollars worth of items, including a $1,400 airline ticket, a passport, 90 pairs of contact lenses.
Woman allegedly tried to cash stolen checks
Alexandria Einhorn, 22 of Gilroy, was arrested at 11:55 a.m. on July 24 for being in possession of stolen property when she allegedly was caught trying to cash two stolen checks at Wells Fargo on First Street. Another stolen check was found in her bag. Later, police connected her to a case of petty shoplifting from Safeway on First Street. She was taken to Santa Clara County Jail.
Man rushed to trauma center after assault
A male victim was taken in an ambulance to a Bay Area trauma center after being assaulted by an unknown suspect on Eigleberry and Second Streets. Police responded to a fight call and found the victim bleeding and suffering from moderate non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was described as a 20-year-old Hispanic male, about 5 feet, 7 inches and 170 pounds. The assault does not appear to be gang related, Gallacinao said.
Revolver stolen from residence
At 8 p.m. on July 22, at a residence on the 7700 block of Rosanna Street, an unknown suspect used unknown means to enter through a locked sliding glass door and stole a .357 Magnum revolver.
Wanted man flees after police respond to suspected possession of a flamethrower
At 11:43 p.m. on July 25, police responded to a call on Kern and Mantelli that a couple of subjects were possibly in possession of a flamethrower. When officers arrived, they found two men to be in possession of a propane tank. One of the men fled, who was later to be determined as the wanted parolee David Roscoe, 27 of Gilroy. Police encourage the public to help them with any information on Roscoe’s whereabouts. The subject who did not flee was not arrested, because police did not have enough evidence – but the case has been sent to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
