A GPD dog sniffed out $120,000 worth of cocaine last week on U.S. 101 just north of town.Â
At 8:49 p.m. Corporal Rodriguez and his K-9 partner, Pharaoh, assisted the California Highway Patrol with a vehicle stop on U.S. 101. Pharaoh gave Rodriguez the alert that there were drugs in the vehicle – and sure enough, the GPD says they found more than five kilograms of cocaine hidden in the car.Â
Gamliel Avelar, 31-year-old San Jose resident, was arrested for transportation of cocaine with intent to sell.
Pharaoh recently completed his narcotic detection training. He has been with the GPD for two years and has apprehended burglary suspects as well as known violent suspects.Â
