Two suspects who reportedly swiped beer and threatened a store clerk with a knife didn’t have time to enjoy their sudsy, stolen brews, according to the Gilroy Police Department.
Just after 6 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a call of an armed robbery at the Super Save Market at 211 First Street, where a female suspect – 28-year-old Dominique Espinoza, 28 – was seen concealing beer in her coat, a GPD press release said.
Espinoza reportedly left the store and walked to her vehicle, and a store employee confronted her in the parking lot. A second suspect – 28-year-old Manuel Beltran, brandished a knife at the employee before the two suspects fled, police said.
Soon after, GPD officers located the suspect’s vehicle, and both suspects were arrested. Espinoza was found to be in possession of a knife, police said.
Both suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose on robbery and conspiracy charges.
The beer was recovered, police said.
