found marijuana plants growing inside the home, police said.
A woman in a verbal dispute with her boyfriend called police to report the domestic fight, and both were arrested when officers found marijuana plants growing inside the home, police said.
Police went to the residence on Rose Lane in north Morgan Hill about 2 a.m. Friday, in response to a call of a domestic dispute, Sgt. Jerry Neumayer said. While officers were inside the home taking statements from the quarreling couple, they found an “indoor grow” of 47 live marijuana plants.
The plants were seized, and the couple were arrested, Neumayer said. The alleged gardeners did not have a medical card or license to grow the pot, and police think they intended to eventually sell it on the streets.
Arrested were Leylani Simmons, 24 of east Palo Alto, on suspicion of domestic battery and cultivation of marijuana, and Brandon Bronner, 26 of Morgan Hill on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana, Neumayer said. Bronner also had a $2,000 warrant for his arrest out of San Jose, for unknown charges.
Simmons allegedly pushed Bronner and ripped his shirt, but neither required treatment for injuries, Neumayer said.
