Gilroy and Christopher High Schools have a better idea of who they will be facing on the field this fall.
Schedules for the upcoming season were released late last week. Christopher will open its season at 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at Sobrato. For the Cougars , this first game will be indicitive of how their season will play out.
“We’ve never beaten Sobrato,” Christopher coach Tim Pierleoni said. “To me, that’s our No. 1 goal as we look at our season. We want to get to that first game and we want to be able to compete really well against Sobrato and have a chance to win that game.”
Gilroy will kick off its season at home against Live Oak at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6.
The Mustangs and Cougars will have to wait awhile to face one another, however, squaring off in the Severance Bowl at 7:30 p.m. on November 8 at Gilroy. That game will be big for his team Mustangs coach Brian Boyd said. He said he is expecting a competitive game from the Mustangs crosstown counterparts.
“Christopher across town is well coached,” Boyd said. “We think we can play with them number wise. … League wise, we think we should be alright.”
