SALINAS—With 41 goals for Christopher this season, it’s no wonder Anthony Sammut earned the Mission Trail Athletic League’s top honors.
The MTAL announced Friday that Sammut, a senior midfield, was named First Team All-League. He averaged three goals a game for the Cougars, helping to their best season in program history as they finished 11-6 overall. Sammut also chipped in with 12 assists over the 14 games he played this season.
And he wasn’t alone.
Junior netminder Chris Hernandez was recognized with Second Team All-League honors. No. 25 spent 714 minutes between the pipes for the Cougars and recorded 170 saves through the 113 shots faced. He had 10 wins for Christopher this season.
