Gilroy's Lauren Castro pitches to Christopher during the first four innings of their away game Tuesday.

Lauren Castro pitched a four-hitter with five strikeouts and had a triple to lead Gilroy High’s softball team to a 13-3 road win over Monterey on Thursday.

Celeste Mendoza went 4-for-5 with three doubles and two RBIs for the Mustangs. Gilroy’s Holly Lam went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, Adrianna Ortega was 2-for-3 with one RBI, Anna Gamboa hit a three-run home run and Rachel Tomlinson went 3-for-4 with a double.

Gilroy scored 10 runs in the top of the seventh inning.

 

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Manny Salcedo had eight kills and six assists, but Christopher High’s boys volleyball team suffered a 25-17, 25-23, 25-17 loss to visiting San Benito on Thursday.

Phil Castro added 12 assists for the Cougars.
