Gilroy snapped a two-game losing streak with a big 47-40 win over Yerba Buena Friday on the road.
Adina Valencia led the Mustangs with 12 points. Maddy Cox and Nia Pollard both chipped in with 10 points a piece.Â
Gilroy led 25-18 at the half, which helped hold its lead despite being outscored 10-8 in the final frame.Â
The Mustangs (6-3) will be back in action at 7 p.m. Dec. 30 at Live Oak.
Christopher drops two
Christopher and Leland traded leads in the first half, but ultimately it was the Chargers that came out on top.Â
The Cougars lost by just five points, falling 47-43 to Leland Saturday at home. They also lost to Silver Creek the day before.Â
Christa Arroyo led the team with 16 points, including two three points. Teresa Guerra was right on her heels, adding 15 points.Â
On Friday, Christopher and Silver Creek were tied at 18 at the half, but the Raiders used a big third quarter to propel them to a win.Â
Silver Creek scored 19 points in the third, while holding the Cougars to just 2 points, en route to a 48-39 win at Christopher Friday.Â
Guerra led the team with 15 points, including a 3-pointer.Â
Christopher (0-7) will be back in action at 4 p.m. Dec. 28 at the Del Mar Classic.Â
GIRLS SOCCER
Cougars fall to Menlo-Atherton
Christopher dropped its third straight game, losing 3-0 to Menlo-Atherton at the Burlingame Tournament Saturday.Â
Menlo-Atherton scored one in the first and two in the second for the final.Â

Palo Alto Senior scored a goal in the first and one in the second to lift it to a 2-1 win over Gilroy at the Oak Grove Cup Tournament Saturday.Â
The Mustangs answered with a goal of their own in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to lift them to a win.Â
