Prep Roundup: Feb. 24

The Christopher boys basketball team just couldn’t overcome the early deficit it found itself in Friday’s regular season finale. 
The Cougars lost 70-38 to the league champion Seaside on the road, finishing out the regular season at 10-14 overall, 2-9 in league.
Christopher scored just two points in the first quarter to Seaside’s 17. The Cougars fought back in the second, but headed into halftime down 30-12.
Shane Suttles was the leading scorer for Christopher with nine points, followed by Alex Pacheco with eight. 
The Cougars were awarded the No. 9 seed in the Central Coast Section Division II boys basketball playoffs and will play at 7 p.m. Thursday at No. 8 Sobrato. 
Mustangs drop regular season finale at NMC
The Gilroy boys basketball team knew it would be no easy feat to get a win at North Monterey County.
The Mustangs lost the regular season finale, 75-63, on the Condors’ Senior Night Friday in Castroville.
Chris Chang led Gilroy with 15 points, followed by Travis Moulden with 12 points and Zach Loo with 10. 
The Mustangs will take on No. 9 seed El Camino at 7 p.m. Tuesday at El Camino for the 1st Round of the CCS Division III playoffs. The winner will play No. 8 Hillsdale at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hillsdale.
