Seaside was within one run of Christopher heading into the top of the fourth, trailing 5-4, but then the Cougars pounced into action.
The Cougars drove in five runs over the fourth and fifth innings, racking up 15 hits en route to a 10-3 win on the road Tuesday.Â
Karli Martinez led off the top of the fourth with a walk and was moved over to second on a Pati Soria single to right field. The duo advanced on the throw and Martinez was able to score as Brook Loesch grounded out. A Morgan England single to left field sent Soria home. England scored three batters later on the throw to give Christopher an 8-3 lead.
Christopher widen its lead in the top of the fifth by taking advantage of a bases loaded situation. Juliana Santiago scored before Loesch was walked to keep the bags full. Two batters later Mackenzie Holt stole home for the final run of the game.Â
Holt went 4 for 5 at the plate, diving in a run and scoring three. She was also solid in the circle, going the distance while allowing six hits, three walks and a strikeout.Â
Christopher (16-7 overall, 5-4 in league) will look to sweep the season meetings with Gilroy during their game at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at home.
