
A year after winning the Central Coast Section Division II championship, Gilroy’s boys soccer team will move down divisions.
The Monterey Bay League announced Monday that the Mustangs will compete in the Pacific Division next season after a 7-12-1 overall record. They finished 4-7-1 in league play.
Gilroy will join Christopher, Monterey, Monte Vista Christian, North Salinas, Palma and Seaside. Pajaro Valley will move up to the Gabilan Division.
This is the lone Gilroy-area realignment for the 2015-16 winter season.
In boys basketball, North Monterey County will join Christopher in the Gabilan Division, while Seaside moves to the Pacific where it will face-off against Gilroy.
MVC will move up the Gabilan Division in girls soccer where it will be league opponents with the Mustangs and Cougars. Notre Dame gets bumped down to the Pacific Division.
Finally in wrestling, Monterey makes the move to Gabilan and becomes a league opponent of both Gilroy and Christopher. North Salinas drops to the Pacific Division.
