Gilroy High’s varsity softball team couldn’t sustain the success it had over the past weekend, losing at home to the Presentation Panthers 10-0 Tuesday.

The Mustangs (6-1) entered the contest undefeated after winning the Half Moon Bay Tournament, but lacked the firepower on offense and the stinginess on defense it had shown a few days prior.

Gilroy allowed four runs in the third inning, three in the fifth and three in the sixth.

“The girls weren’t overly cocky about the weekend but you could tell it was in their heads,” Gilroy coach Catherine Hallada said. “Presentation has a good team and a good pitcher. I think we can beat them, but obviously not today.

“I think today the level of intensity wasn’t there, but I’m confident tomorrow [we] can win.”

The Mustangs will face Valley Christian today in Gilroy at 3:45 p.m.

Against Presentation (2-0), Gilroy’s Kylie Herrada and Jasmine Perez both went 2-for-3 at the plate, Angelica Galindo was 2-for-2 and Caitlyn Pierotti and Brittany Balanesi each recorded a hit.
