DEAR EDITOR:

In response to all the whining about the new police station, I’d like to make a couple of suggestions.

First, stop the whining and support our police. Do you think these people have a “cush” job? If so, sign up for a ride-along sometime and see what they have to deal with. I believe anything that will enhance the effectiveness of an agency should be supported not opposed. And if you do oppose it, offer alternative ideas rather than sniffles and tears.

A new police station is way overdue. Albeit a bit pricey, I believe we have a great department and they deserve a new, state-of-the-art building. This will offer more space and tools to make their job easier and enhance the effectiveness of fighting crime and terrorism.

I think it is sad that some in our society would spend countless dollars on worthless programs, without question, rather than investing in a quality police station. By investing in a new police station, at least we can see where our money went verses wondering how and where our money was spent. I support the Gilroy City Council for investing in quality not quantity.
