Co-Rec Winter ‘C’ League Champions add to 8-0 record with two
postseason victories
GILROY – Radiator Doctor would rate the Co-Rec Winter C League season as a ’10’ after completing a perfect season with two playoff wins Sunday at Las Animas Park.

After powering through an 8-0 regular season, Radiator Doctor followed with a 13-0 blanking of EKS Concrete-California Fun Jump and a 14-9 triumph over Dutchman’s Pizza-Big Kahunas to emerge with a trophy, souvenir t-shirts and a 10-0 record.

Playoff Week continues at both Las Animas and Christmas Hill Parks throughout the week. Tripleheaders begin at 6:30 p.m., with finals at 8:50 p.m.

Radiator Doctor pushed across seven runs in the first inning against EKS-California Fun Jump in the opener. Rich Furtado hit a two-run single, Marie Lucio a one-run single for the winners.

Furtado, who finished 4-for-4, socked a two-run home run a five-run third. Gil Ramirez plated the final run in the Radiator Doctor fourth.

Jaime Garcia, Steven Lo and Frankie Medina each collected two hits for EKS Concrete-California Fun Jump.

Dutchman’s Pizza-Big Kahunas erased a 5-1 deficit with 11 runs in the second inning on the way to a 16-9 victory over Just 4 Fun.

Kristen Rennard and Shawn Cronk each clubbed two hits in the Kahunas second frame. Manny Rivera paced the Kahunas offense with three hits. Joel Garcia ripped three hits and Art Naranjo and Chridtina Landeros each scored three runs for Just 4 Fun.

JerryJohnston’s RBI-double in the first inning ignited a two-run rally as Radiator Doctor held the lead throughout the final against the Kahunas.

Johnston doubled and scored on a Furtado double for a 3-0 Radiator lead. After the Kahunas struck for two runs in the fourth on RBI-hits from Spencer Straub and Cronk, Radiator responded with a five-run fourth inning.

Furtado completed the cycle for the winners with a three-run homer in the sixth inning. Cronk netted four extra-base hits, including a home run in the seventh for the Kahunas. Danny Benz went 3-for-4 for the second-place team.
