Free Matinees Continue at Gilroy Library
Gilroy – The free Spring Break movie matinee will continue through Saturday at the Gilroy Library (7387 Rosanna St.). A new family-friendly movie will be shown at 2pm. All are welcome.

McDonald’s Celebrates Remodel With Fundraiser
Gilroy – Jan and Steve Peat, owners of the 10th Street McDonald’s of Gilroy, invite the public to a free Ronald McDonald show Saturday, as part of a celebration of the newly remodeled restaurant on the corner of 10th & Chestnut streets. Ronald McDonald will perform at 1pm and will give out prizes to children who attend. There also will be a drawing for a bicycle, Coca-Cola Bears, and an MP3 player.
Pony Pictures will be taken on site. For all pictures purchased, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Ronald McDonald House.
Register Now For Gilroy Summer Programs
Gilroy – The city will be conducting a summer registration fair for all 2007 summer programs, including aquatics and day camps. Community Services staff will be on hand to answer questions. The fair will take place from 9am to noon, Saturday, at the Gilroy Community Services Office, 7351 Rosanna St.
Workshop Shows How Learn to Garden Like a Pro
Gilroy – Looking for new ideas or help in designing a South County garden? Join us at the Gilroy Library, 7387 Rosanna St., from 7 to 9pm, Wednesday, April 25, for the latest in the Meet the Master Gardeners series called Landscape 101.
Guest speaker Judy Hess, who has her AS degree in Landscape Design and has been designing gardens in Gilroy for 20 years, will discuss some new and well-tested ideas. In Part 2, Wednesday, May 23, she invites you to bring in photos of your garden’s problem areas and she will give you advice and make suggestions on how to deal with these issues.
The lecture is free, and light refreshments will be served.

Crab Feed, Dance Benefit GHS Athletics
Gilroy – The Gilroy High School Athletic Association will be holding the 27th Annual Crab Cioppino Feed and Dance at Christopher Ranch Saturday, May 12. The dance will feature one of Gilroy’s favorite bands, Shaboom. This year the event will also feature a sports memorabilia auction with items from all the local favorites. Additional nonsports items will be available for auction as well.
Proceeds from the event help pay for transportation for teams to athletic events. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at the school in the ASB office from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday, or online at www.gilroyhighschool.com.

Symphony Presents Pacific Brass Band
Morgan Hill – As part of its regular season, South Valley Symphony presents an evening of rousing music provided by the well-known Pacific Brass Band under the baton of Bandmaster Bert Viales. Under the stars, on the lovely grounds of Guglielmo Winery, this authentic British-style band will perform a variety of traditional favorites, ranging from American folk songs to rags and marches.
Doors will open at 7pm Saturday, April 21, and a “no host” wine bar will be provided. Parking is available at the school parking lot directly across the street from the winery, 1480 E. Main Ave., Morgan Hill.
Admission prices are $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens age 55 and older, and $9 for students 12 to 18. Children younger than 12 will be admitted free with a paid adult admission.
Tickets can be purchased at Porcella’s Music in downtown Gilroy; BookSmart, in its new location at Third and Depot streets in Morgan Hill; at the Mission Gallery in San Juan Bautista; and at Postnet, located at 1760 Airline Highway in Hollister.
