Baseball team wins big over San Francisco City
Back-to-back RBI-singles off the bats of Nicole Lobato and Adrianna Osuna in the bottom of the fifth broke a 1-1 tie in an eventual 4-1 victory for the Gavilan College women’s softball team over Cabrillo on Thursday in Gilroy.

The Rams (10-8 overall, 3-2 in the Coast Conference) tacked on another run an inning later property of another Lobato RBI base hit. The sophomore also picked up the win in the circle, striking out six in 6.2 innings.

Gavilan threatened in each of the first three innings but stranded a base runner in each as the game entered the fourth tied 0-0.

Cabrillo jumped ahead 1-0 in the top of the fourth, however Gavilan answered back in their half of the frame.

Sophomore Danielle Payne blistered a two-out RBI-single to the fence in left-center field, plating Alexandria Ferrel from second.

Kristy Pineda had a double, single and a run scored for the Rams. Cassandra Garcia and Shayna Osuna also had hits for Gavilan.

Gavilan heads to a weekend tournament in Fremont before resuming conference play against College of San Mateo on Tuesday.

Rams 12, SF City 0

Gabe Bonilla had two triples and three runs scored as the Gavilan College baseball team ransacked visiting San Francisco City College 12-0 on Thursday in Gilroy.

Benefiting from a bountiful bundle of base on balls, the Rams scored in seven of its eight at-bats, including four in the third and three in the sixth.

The victory gives the Rams (5-9, 1-3) their first in Coast Conference action and fifth overall.

Gavilan continues a four-game homestand against Monterey Peninsula on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Rams then host conference opponents De Anza and Hartnell on Tuesday and Thursday. Both games are slated to begin at 2:30.
