Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Gilroy Police Department Neighborhood Resource Unit, we wish to thank the many volunteers and agencies who helped to make our Community Policing outreach event “Santa At San Ysidro Park 2004” held Wed. Dec. 15th a great success.

First we would like to recognize the Gilroy Community Groups and Businesses who donated treats and support for this special community event. They are as follows: Gilroy Family Resource Center, MACSA, Johnny-Gitar, IOOF Gilroy Apartments, Rogers Lane Neighborhood Association, B & B Heating, Gilroy Gang Task Force, Hometown Buffet, Dr. Eric Cohen, Gilroy Dispatch, City of Gilroy Housing Community and Development, Community Services, Gilroy Fire Department, Gilroy Police Department K-9 Officers, Mounted Unit Officers, Gilroy Volunteers in Policing, Avoid the 13th Officers, and California Highway Patrol Officer Ramirez.

A very special appreciation goes to Santa, Robert, and Mrs. Claus, Sue Baker. For the last nine years they have closed their business so that they could spend the afternoon as Santa and Mrs. Claus. Kids had their pictures taken with Santa as they told him what they wanted for Christmas and as they received a Christmas goodie bag.

Once again, thank you Gilroy community for always pulling together to provide the Gilroy kids a memorable moment. This is what makes Gilroy such a special place to live. On behalf of the Gilroy Police Department, we wish everybody a safe holiday season!
