GILROY – Turtles In Arms moved atop the Men’s Summer Basketball League standings at 2-0 Wednesday by outlasting the Wild Aces 73-47 at Solorsano Gym.
Nick Langone keyed the Turtles movement, connecting on six three-point field goals on the way to a team-leading 20 points. Drew Pearson scored eight of his 13 points in the second half as the Turtles expanded the 30-20 intermission edge. Yashar Mira recorded 11 points, Jason Wolowitz and Kyle Billups each nine for the winners.
Colten Alvers sliced through the Turtles defense to pour in 25 points for the Wild Aces. Kevin Medrano aided the Aces cause with 10 points.
District 5 joined the Turtles at 2-0 by topping MOB 51-41.
Eric Nelson tossed in 11 points to pace the balanced District 5 offense. Justin Nicholson produced 12 points, Tucker Baksa 11 for the District.
Edgar Velasquez hit four 3-pointers while scoring 20 points for MOB (1-1) Thursday. Raman Bassi followed with 11 MOB points.
Hard Ninety reached 1-1 with a 71-47 nod over Gold’s Force.
Brian Booth earned scoring honors for the night with a 29-point effort for Hard Ninety. JT Tipton popped in 17 points, Nate Kassel 14 and Mark Cisneros 10 for the winners.
Albert Medrano led the Gold’s Force surge with 23 points. Yiwah Liang helped the Force with 12 points. Hard Ninety held a 31-18 lead at halftime.
