GILROY – A 15-run explosion in the top of the seventh inning carried Dutchman’s Pizza to the second-half Women’s C League title, defeating M&M’s 20-13 Wednesday at Las Animas Park.
Dutchman’s trailed 10-5 after six innings and faced a one-game playoff for the second-half title with a loss. Instead, The Pizza offense scored 11 runs with two out in the seventh, including two singles from Stephanie Johnston and a two-run double from Brandi Davis.
The win moved Dutchman’s into the best 2-of-3 Championshp Series against first-half titlist Don’s Vending. The series opens Monday Aug. 11 at 7:40 p.m. at Las Animas, with the second game Wednesday at 8:50 p.m. at Gavilan Sports Park.
Laura Hagiperos powered two triples and a double to anchor the M&M’s offense.
Lacey Juarez scored three runs and Franny Lopez singled and doubled to lead 5-1 Let’s Do This past Eugene Marks Tractor Service 10-8. Anne Marie Filice went 3-for-4 for the Tractors.
Corrina Casillas lashed a home run and triple, Silvia Vasquez two doubles and a single, as the Impalas Car Club outlasted Michael’s Mufflers 13-5.
The Desperados remained alive in the Men’s D League post-season with a 24-3 decision over Los Chilotes Wednesday at Gavilan.
The victory left the Desperados tied with the Dirty Dozen at 4-2 atop the league. The Desperados and Dirty Dozen play Sunday Aug. 10 at 8:30 p.m. at Las Animas for the second-half title. The winner will play Los Chilotes in the D Championship Series, beginning Monday at 8:50 p.m. at Las Animas.
Dean Filice homered and Bob Stuve went 4-for-4 for the Desperados.
Vince Carrasco went 3-for-4 and Luis Gutierrez scored three runs to lead the Dirty Dozen past Aladdin Bail Bonds-Fermin’s Appliance Service 11-6. John Carrillo went 3-for-4 for Aladdin-Fermin’s.
Kelly Kramer went 5-for-5 and scored six runs as 6-0 M. Rizzo Landscaping topped the Energizers 32-13 Wednesday in Women’s D play at Las Animas. Gina Orca, Annissa Velasco and Teena Lopez each drilled three Energizer hits.
Kat Corrales went 5-for-5 and Annette Maquinalez added a triple and three singles in a 22-0 Kay’s Kids verdict over the Angels. Stefani Wheat went 2-for-3 for the Angels.
