When the construction on the new bridge is completed, will there
be a stop light there? When they are done, will there be enough
visual clearance for those turning left from Burchell Road to
safely turn into traffic?
“When the construction on the new bridge is completed, will there be a stop light there? When they are done, will there be enough visual clearance for those turning left from Burchell Road to safely turn into traffic? I’ve actually enjoyed the new ability to see before turning onto Hecker Pass now that the hill has been cut back. Thanks for any info.”
Red Phone: Dear Traffic Watcher, We’re glad to hear that it’s a little easier to cross Hecker Pass now that the hill has been shaved off a little. The California Department of Transportation, which is in charge the Uvas Creek Bridge realignment project doesn’t have any plans to add a light on that corner, said Caltrans District 4 Public Information Officer Bernard Walik. However, there will be a separate left turn lane added for Burchell Road, he said.
Construction for the new bridge, which began last year, is scheduled to be completed in October, and traffic will be switched to the new alignment then, Walik said. The project is scheduled to be completed in March, but there should be no impact to traffic during the final stage, he said.
Doors should be open
“I think if the city is going to close its doors every other Friday, we should send them home without pay. We are trying to make a living. I am a builder here in town. Being closed is ridiculous. We need to run our businesses. Things are starting to pick up. If the city doesn’t want to deal with the public, they won’t be doing any work any ways. They will be sitting around drinking coffee and having a good old time. They need to be held accountable. The only way they will be is if we have access to them and can see what they are doing behind their desks.”
Red Phone: Dear Stay Open, Red Phone agrees that the doors should be kept open but doubts if they’ll have much time to catch up on their Solitaire games.
