“I would like to get the stop sign put back up at Gilroy Gardens right at the corner of Hecker Pass. I realize they are closed for the season, but you still have salesmen and people pulling in and out. I’m going through at 55 mph and these people are pulling out right in front of me.”
Dear Stop And Go, It looks like it is impossible to please everyone. The stop sign that was added on Welburn and Hanna was part of a general safety upgrade along the Welburn corridor as approved by the City Council, said Engineer Don Dey.
“The city did a study and made a number of changes there for safety,” Dey said. “I can understand their concern because it does create congestion around Welburn that wasn’t there before.”
Some of the improvements made around the area include adding no-truck signs, striping and reflectors along the road. So it looks like you will need to plan a minute or two longer for your commute.
As for the sign in front of Gilroy Gardens, it is maintained by Caltrans. Spokesman Bernie Walik said he wasn’t sure if the sign was removed as part of the construction in the area but said Caltrans would add a new sign in the area that should be there by the time you read this.
