Rex Glen Corbett died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, with his wife and daughter at his side.
Mr. Corbett was born May 10, 1951 in Butte, Mont. He grew up in Hollister and Idrea, where he worked in the mercury mines as a youth. He later served in the military in Vietnam. Upon returning, he settled in northern California where he worked in Trinity Center, and at Coffee Creek Guest Ranch for nine years, where he met his wife.
He was a very loving and caring person who always wanted to help others. He was one of those guys that would stop and help someone on the side of the road.
He loved his wife and daughter very much and worked very hard for his family. He would spend hours talking about plans and dreams he had and things he wanted to do with his family. Mr. Corbett also was a handy man and a licensed chef.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Corbett; daughter, Amanda Downey; three sisters in Lincoln City Oregon: Georgia, Marilyn, Tammy; and baby brother Brett.
On Monday, Aug. 16, shortly after starting a new job as a handyman, he came home not feeling well. He had worked until noon, but continued to feel worse. After four days in the intensive care unit, he was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia.
He spent 13 days fighting for his life. He did not want to leave his family knowing he did not have insurance.
Due to lack of funds, his wife and daughter will have to leave their temporary home at the end of September. His wife is disabled and she and her daughter hope to move back to northern California to stay near family.
