The Rotary Club will be conducting its annual Speech Contest on
Feb. 28, at the Gilroy Elk’s Lodge. The contest is open to any
student in grades 9-12 who attend Gilroy High School or are a
resident of Gilroy and attend a private high school.

Gilroy – The Rotary Club will be conducting its annual Speech Contest on Feb. 28, at the Gilroy Elk’s Lodge. The contest is open to any student in grades 9-12 who attend Gilroy High School or are a resident of Gilroy and attend a private high school.

There are four levels of competition, with the conclusion being held at the Santa Clara Marriott on April 30.

The Gilroy Rotary Club contest will host the club level contest which will determine winning contestants to advance to the Area level. The Area level contest includes the winning contestants from Morgan Hill, Hollister, Salinas and San Juan Bautista.

Winning contestants will then advance to the Regional level. For the purpose of this competition, the district is divided into two Regions. The top two speakers from each Region level contest will go to the final competition at the District Conference.

The theme for the speech is “Service Above Self – Because We Care.”
