Freshman guard Fayth Lyon scored 17 points to lead Live Oak’s girls basketball team to a 52-22 home win over Monterey on Tuesday night.
Jocelyn Mendoza added 13 points for the Acorns (2-1), who led 27-12 at halftime.
Lyon is one of four freshmen on varsity for Live Oak.
“(Lyon) has excellent court awareness. She reads the court really well,” Acorns coach Mike Kiefer said.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Leland 73, Christopher 37 – Wyatt Rocheleau scored nine points, but the Cougars fell to the Chargers at the Los Gatos Lions Club Tournament.
Christopher (2-1) will play either Saratoga or Gunn on Thursday.
GIRLS SOCCER
Santa Teresa 1, Gilroy 0 – The visiting Saints scored late in the first half to beat the Mustangs.
