Gilroy High’s wrestling team used nine pins to roll to a 63-15 victory over visiting Alisal on Wednesday night to win its home-opening dual meet.
The Mustangs got pins from Victor Vaza (126 pounds), Victor Olmos (132), Daniel Barbosa (138), Paul Fox (145), Nikko Villarreal (152), Lupe Jimenez (160), Julian Carbajal (195), Daniel Patterson (220) and heavyweight Frank Martinez.
The Mustangs are at the Reno Tournament of Champions on Friday and Saturday.
BOYS SOCCER
Gilroy 3, Soquel 0 – Gaspar Figueroa, Mario Rubelcava and Emmanuel Cruz scored one goal each to lead the Mustangs (3-1-0) past the Knights (3-2-3).
Jesus Vasquez and David Valencia assisted on the first two goals, and Cruz scored on a penalty kick to give Gilroy a 3-0 lead.
Gilroy will play North Coast Section power San Ramon Valley in the De La Salle College Showcase at 1 p.m. Friday, then play Central Coast Section power Menlo Atherton in the third round of the Homestead Cup on Saturday.
