A PG-13 twist on “Red Riding Hood” is showing in movie theaters, but students in the Rucker Elementary School can keep it edgy, too.
They’re performing their own version of the classic children’s tale: “Little Red Riding Hood – REDefined.”
In Rucker’s version, a little boy has ripped out the pages of “Little Red Riding Hood,” and Little Red must retrieve her pages from all the stories on the bookshelf.
“She’ll travel to the Wizard of Oz, I Spy Gold Challenger, How I became a Pirate, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, One Fish-Two Fish- Red Fish-Blue Fish, and When You Give a Mouse A Cookie to try to get her story back,” explained Skye McCaw, writer/director of Rucker Theatre Arts.
Performances will take place 6:30 p.m. this Friday, and at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Another round of performances will also take place the following week at 6:30 p.m. March 18 and at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. March 19.
All performances will be held at Rucker Elementary School at 325 Santa Clara Ave.
Tickets for public performances are $5 at the door for adults and $3 for children.
