Firefighters contained a two to three-acre vegetation fire that broke out shortly before 3 p.m. today in a mowed hay field at 1935 Gwinn Avenue in San Martin, a Cal Fire spokesman confirmed.
One structure was threatened but not damaged in the fire, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remained under investigation as of press time. Scanner reports indicated that locals may have been involved in the initial efforts to contain the fire as responders arrived; however, those details could not be confirmed by CalFire at this time.
A total of six engines and a helicopter responded to the scene. Agency response included Morgan Hill Fire Department, South Santa Clara Fire District and CalFire.
