Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD – Cal State Bakersfield junior Matt Sanchez, of Gilroy, who wrestled scholastically at Bellarmine Academy, will be one wrestler to watch on the Roadrunners’ wrestling team in 2003-04.
Sanchez – who started his collegiate career at Iowa State – ranked in the nation’s top 20 when Intermat released its preseason rankings.
Sanchez will enter the season ranked No. 20 in the nation in a weight that appears will be very tough in the Pac-10 in 2003-04. He also placed fifth at the Las Vegas Invitational and was the 133-pound champion at the California Collegiate Invitational.
CSUB opens up the 2003-04 season on Saturday, Nov. 22 in Fullerton at the All-California Open. The Roadrunners will then host the Blue-Gold Meet at the Icardo Center on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m.
