A press release from Public Information Officer Joe Kline with the City of Gilroy reminds locals that a series of Pacific storms are headed for the Bay Area this week, and will produce significant rainfall as well as potentially damaging winds.
City crews are prepared to address localized flooding and will remove fallen tree limbs or other debris from roadways as may be necessary. Sand and sandbags are available for residents at the Chestnut Fire Station, located at 7070 Chestnut St. Residents must bring their own shovels.
“As the first storm of the rainy season is upon us, this is an opportune time for local residents to prepare for this and later storms, and become familiar with preparedness activities that they can take themselves to minimize storm related problems,” states City Administrator and Director of Emergency Services Tom Haglund.
