More than 100 people attended last week’s ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of Sandy’s Cafe, 6120 Monterey St., Gilroy. Among those on hand at the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce sponsored event were, from left, Kai Lai, planning commissioner, Mayor Al Pinhero, Junior and Sandy Moretti, owners, Samie Moretti, granddaughter, Dennis Herman, son, Rachel Schiel, Leonard Valenti and Susan Valenta, chamber president/CEO. The restaurant, which was formerly Sunrise Cafe, offers breakfast and lunch every day and a dinner menu Friday and Saturday nights. Saturday night currently features barbecue tri-tip or ribs and all the fixings including Liz Moretti’s famous bread pudding.
